It can take up to 48 hours to process so please make sure you put in your request as soon as possible.

The extended hours service will be in operation for telephone consultations and face-to-face appointments at either Fairfax Group Practice Prestwich, Radcliffe Primary Care Centre or Moorgate Bury. You can book appointments with a doctor, nurse or pharmacist. Please contact the surgery to pre-book.

As qualified healthcare professionals, they can offer clinical advice, over-the-counter medicines for a range of minor illnesses, such as coughs, colds, sore throats, tummy trouble and aches and pains. For some conditions, they may also supply you with prescribed medication. Under the Pharmacy First scheme highly trained pharmacists at more than nine in ten pharmacies can now assess and treat patients for earache, impetigo, infected insect bites, shingles, sinusitis, sore throat, and urinary tract infections (UTIs) for women aged 16-64 - without the need to see a GP

If symptoms suggest it's something more serious, pharmacists have the right training to make sure you get the help you need. For example they will tell you if you need to see a GP, nurse or other healthcare professional. All pharmacists train for 5 years in the use of medicines. They are also trained in managing minor illnesses and providing health and wellbeing advice.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.

You can also contact NHS 111 online https://111.nhs.uk/ or to speak to someone dial 111 from a telephone.

If you or someone else is seriously ill, injured and life is at risk, please call 999.
